Aleph (Psalm 119 Part 1)
What do Tora, Eda, Derek, Piqqudim, Hoq, Misva, and Mispat have in common? They are all descriptions of God’s Word, given to us in the first section of Psalm 119.

In Hosea 2:15, God speaks of His people, saying, "I will give her her vineyards from there, And the Valley of Achor (trouble) as a door of hope; She shall sing there, As in the days of her youth, As in the day when she came up from the land of Egypt."
God is in the business of turning our times of trouble and trial into doors of hope. These can be doors of testimony, breakthrough, empathy, or growth. My prayer is that the stories, poems, devotionals, studies, and songs you will encounter here will be an encouragement to you as the Lord leads you through doors of hope which He has specifically built for you.
Blessings in Christ,
Makayla Haehner

Palm 47 declares that God rules, reins, owns, and bears the right to all peoples, lands, and nations. He calls all peoples to rejoice in Him because He is God over all the earth. We are called to sing praises to Him because He is King of all the earth. God reigns over all nations from His holy throne and all the shields of the earth belong to Him. He alone is highly exalted.

“Woe to him who strives with him who formed him, a pot among earthen pots! Does the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’ or ‘Your work has no handles’? Woe to him who says to a father, ‘What are you begetting?’ or to a woman, ‘With what are you in labor?’” (Isaiah 45:9-10)

“In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the Angel of His Presence saved them; in His love and in His pity He redeemed them; and He bore them and carried them all the days of old” (Isaiah 63:9). This is a massive statement to make concerning God. Speaking of God’s people, Isaiah was writing thousands of years before our day. Isaiah made a confident overarching statement about God, what He feels and how He thinks: “In all their affliction He was afflicted”. That’s crazy!

In the Lord’s prayer, the part in the Bible where Jesus teaches us how to pray, Jesus teaches us to ask God to forgive us as we forgive those who sin against us. It is holy and logical that those who are forgiven of much should readily forgive others. Although this concept is simple enough to understand, it can be super hard to walk in it.

Most rights are temporal. They must be fought for, won, defended, and obtained through protest. But God's children have a very different kind of right than the ones that are maintained in this world. What is the one right freely given to all of God's children, wherever they find themselves?
